As a result of the procedures carried out by Bulgartransgaz EAD for allocation of annual and monthly product, over 87% of the natural gas storage capacity in Chiren underground gas storage for 2025/2026 gas year has been booked. The capacity booked amounts to almost 567 million cubic meters.
So far 15 companies have booked capacity, 8 of which with international participation.
The remaining available storage, withdrawal and injection capacity in Chiren UGS will be offered for booking within the auctions for monthly capacity product, held every month for the remaining part of the gas storage year, as well as on a short-term basis - day-ahead and within-day capacity products. All auctions for injection, withdrawal and storage capacity at Chiren UGS will be carried out according to the auction calendar published on the operator's website.
We recall that as of the forthcoming injection season, the storage capacity in Chiren UGS has been increased by 100 million cubic meters - up to 650 million cubic meters.
In the past two years, Bulgartransgaz EAD has been fulfilling ahead of schedule its obligation to fill 90% of the storages' capacity in the European Union countries no later than November 1. The requirement is based on European Regulation 2017/1938 on measures to safeguard security of gas supply in the Member States.
